DIY Decoupage Pumpkin Jars
These little pumpkin jars are such a simple way to turn everyday glass jars into cute fall decor. With a few napkins, Mod Podge, and some simple finishing touches, you can create a smooth decoupaged look that works beautifully for kitchen counters, shelves, trays, or fall displays.
Supplies Needed
Glass jars
Fall napkins
Mod Podge
Paint brushes
Ribbon
Wood stems
Maple leaves
How to Make It
Clean and dry the jars completely. Remove any labels or residue.
Separate the napkin layers. Use only the thin printed top layer.
Brush on a thin coat of Mod Podge. Let it sit for a minute or two so it becomes slightly tacky instead of very wet.
Lay the napkin onto the jar. Gently smooth it from the center outward. A plastic bag worn like a mitten works great for smoothing without tearing the napkin.
Continue around the jar. Add more Mod Podge and napkin as needed, overlapping slightly if necessary.
Let it dry completely. Once dry, gently brush on a thin coat of Mod Podge to seal the surface.
Add the stem. Glue a small wood stem to the lid.
Finish with ribbon and leaves. Add your ribbon and fall accents to complete the pumpkin look.
Tips for a Smoother Decoupage Finish
Use only the thin printed layer of the napkin.
Apply a light coat of Mod Podge — too much can cause wrinkles.
Let the Mod Podge sit for a minute or two until slightly tacky.
Work in small sections and smooth from the center outward.
